COD4 Beta Goes Bad, then Good

Well, as you probably know the "first come first served" part of the Call of Duty 4 multiplayer beta registration didn't exactly go to plan. But don't worry, Infinity Ward have got your backs and you can still get in. The servers hosting CharlieOscarDelta basically died when the beta registration was opened yesterday and many fans were annoyed, and so were the developers:

We were assured relentlessly time and time again by the company who runs and maintains Charlieoscardelta.com for us that they have adequately prepared the servers for this massive Beta roll-out.

That was f*cking bullshit.

Anyway, they have now opened a 24 hour lottery for entry into the beta. You have 24 hours to login to the website and apply for the beta, after which time they will start contacting the people who have been randomly accepted to participate.

Due to overwhelming interest in the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Multiplayer Beta, we will no longer be accepting entry into the program on a first come, first serve basis. To ensure everyone has a fair shot at getting in, the Beta Registration System has been reopened, and will remain open for the next 24 hours. Click "BETA" to enter Beta HQ and select "ENTER NOW." We will collect names until 7pm PST tomorrow, Tuesday August 28th, after which we will randomly select names for entry into the Beta. Within 72 hours of this lottery, we will contact you via email with news on whether or not you were admitted.

If you are selected, we will contact you via email with your Token. Please be patient and wait until you receive your token, as we plan to send out Token Codes in batches to ensure the Xbox Live servers are ramped up at a safe pace.
