Graphically COD4 is a beautiful game; even in it’s multiplayer beta form. There is no doubt in my mind that the single player campaign is going to look even better but as far as the multiplayer goes it may be one of the best looking games out there. The level design is fantastic and some of the camouflage available to the soldiers is downright scary. Character models in Modern Warfare are a nice upgrade from the weird faces I remember from the previous Call of Duty games. Other little tidbits such as explosions, textures, etc. are looking good and will probably be even more polished in the final game. The first thing I thought when booting up the beta was, “is this really the multiplayer mode, cause it looks damn good” and I bet if you have played it you were thinking the same thing. At the end of the day the average gamer out there should be thanking their lucky stars that the people over at Activision and Infinity Ward were nice enough to give them a chance to play this amazing title. What is usually saved for gaming elites and journalists is becoming more and more something available to the common gamer.

Because this is only a beta I am not going to comment too much on the negatives (like there were any) as they will probably be fixed come ship date, if not the review will cover them all. If playtime is any indication of how good this game is going to be people should be buying Activision stock because gamers everywhere are putting in an insane amount of time with this beta, me included. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is already at the top of my list for game of the year 2007, based only on the multiplayer portion so I am sure when I get to check out the single-player campaign next month I will only become more excited about this game. If you are not in the beta just yet stay calm and scour the internet on a daily basis, there are plenty of tokens out there for the taking. Stay tuned to Planet Xbox 360 for continuing coverage of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare as more information becomes available, and look for the full review this November when the game ships to stores.
