    Halo 3 Review

    by Eric Bush

As if Halo 3 did not scream epic enough they had to toss in a highly epic soundtrack that was penned by the classic composer who was responsible for both previous games. It is obvious that the composer feels much more comfortable with the medium this time around and the music really drives the Halo 3 storyline. When things are going good the music is fast and up beat but when a massive battle is going on the music fits, it’s just awesome. I rarely speak so highly about the music in a game but more than once I was drawn into Halo 3 via my speakers and that rarely happens. All other aspects of the audio are just as amazing, everything from the voice acting to the sound effects are done with an amount of professionalism that is hard to find these days.

Bungie has spent three years and countless loads of money making Halo 3 and fortunately for them (and publisher Microsoft) it has paid off. Having more preorders than Halo 2 was something few people in the industry thought could ever be done but it has been, by this epic game for the Xbox 360. Every aspect of this game feels perfect and other than some tiny complaints the game is just that, perfect. This review could have taken up another five pages but a point needs to be made, that point is this game needs to be purchased, like now. The single-player campaign is long enough and the storyline is exactly what it needs to be, featuring one of the best series endings ever written. Throw in online multiplayer, online co-op, the level editor, the video features, and all the other stuff packed onto the disc and Halo 3 is worth every penny of the sixty dollar price tag (or more depending on which version you buy, personally I went with the legendary mainly for the replica Spartan helmet, how cool is that?). The main thing wrong with Halo 3 is that it does not live up to the hype, and nothing could have. The amount of hype surrounding this game was insane and Bungie did the best it could to make a game that would be acceptable among fans and newbs of the series. Microsoft’s baby will break all kinds of sales record and bring new consumers to the Xbox 360 side, there is no doubt that even though Halo 3 was the final fight more Halo games will spawn from the depths of Bungie, Halo Wars is already on it’s way out the birth canal and more spin-offs are sure to come. The year of 2007 is shaping up to be one of the best for gaming in history and Halo 3 just adds to the strong lineup available now (and future) on the Xbox 360, whether you are a fan or entirely new to the Halo series this is a game that needs to be purchased, enough said.
