I found out that using an old guitar (from GH II) and a new one (from GH III) will work seamlessly so that is the option I will be going for, it's going to be nice to have a wireless guitar for my solo play but have the back-up wired one for one a friend comes over to strum a few songs. Now that the new badass guitar controller is all talked about let's move onto the software. Legends of Rock includes an amazing track list of songs, some announced, others still kept secrets. There are some instant classics in there as well as some more obscure stuff that ended up being really fun to rock out to. The core gameplay of Guitar Hero II is still intact, I am a big believer of the theory, if something isn't broken don't fix it, and GH II was definitely not broken. I got some time to rock out to one of my favorite classics, "Hit Me With Your Best Shot", I couldn't help but smile the entire time. Even though Legends of Rock is very similar to Guitar Hero II something about it just feels completely new and unique.
Guitar Explanation Video
The career mode still consists of traveling the country playing five different songs in a new more authentic venue each time, with beating all five songs causing you to move you on to the next stage and five new songs. New to the series is the addition of "boss battles" that consist of going head-to-head with a computer controlled guitarist in one really hard solo. I personally tried one of these boss battles on hard mode and he kicked my ass, over and over again. During the battle you fight back and fourth to build up your "rock meter" and at some points during the song your opponent will cause you to strum away at the whammy bar, just to stay afloat. This new component of the game will add some much needed variety to the career mode and will surely excite gamers once they see who (and to what song) they will be battling off against.
