But overall, the graphics do a great job and really kick in a very distinctive look for this game. It has a very grainy, raw, hot Mexican sun with the indulging city smog everywhere look to it. You can’t miss seeing GRAW’s graphical power in action.

Ubisoft never really disappoint in the sound department. All their games deliver a very real sounding experience and GRAW certainly doesn’t fall short of that standard, the effects in this game are amazing. Everything from the bullet ricochets, to the grenade shellshock, to the explosions all sound extremely good. Explosions themselves sound like no other game before, when you’re in a firefight and someone blows up a truck, it seems like everything stopped and this huge explosion just shut everything up. They are loud and powerful; just like they should be. You, as Capt. Mitchell, and all the other soldiers produce very detailed sounds as well. While jogging from one position to another, you hear your breathing, the gear bouncing and your weapon hitting your armor. The enemy soldiers are constantly yelling at you from a distance and really add immersion to the firefights. And of course most importantly, all the weapons are as real sounding as can be, in both SP and MP.

The music that comes in and out is also very well done. For all the sound that is actually in the game, it does an awesome job. But, I do think the game needs more ambience sounds. These huge cities sometimes seem too quiet.

Ever since I got my Xbox 360, I have been looking for that extremely good, i.e. Halo 2, Xbox Live game that is next-gen. Well GRAW was definitely worth the wait. This game has one of the most extensive online features ever. It offers thousands of different tweaking options for servers. It has both team and solo based matches. And between those you have both objective based and elimination based gameplay features. And to top it all of you get one of the most feature packed Co-Op modes to come out on consoles. Full 16 player support…. Can you ask for more?

Once in multiplayer, you will find new additions to an already packed list of guns from Single-Player. The guns are divided by classes and you have Marksman (Sniper Rifles), Grenadier (Assault Rifles + Grenade Launchers), an Automatic Rifleman (Light Machine-Guns) and Rifleman (Assault Rifles) class types. Simply put, there is something for everyone and this is why it is so addictive. The only negative I found online was that some maps tend to have FPS issues and don’t run at a smooth framerate.

Final Word

Killer App? It appears so! This game will probably sell systems and I already can’t wait for the next title in this series. GRAW is part of a group games that were supposed to come out around launch but got delayed to get more development time, so they aren’t even technically the second wave yet….. more like the 1st and a half wave of games to hit the 360. There are certainly exciting times coming up for 360 owners and GRAW can now be the flagship for next-gen titles done right.
