    Exclusive: GripShift Questions and Answers

    by Eric Bush

GripShift is headed towards the Xbox Live Arcade next Wednesday and recently we got the chance to ask both Jos Ruffel and Mario Wynands from Sidhe Interactive a couple of questions about the game. By all accounts it certainly looks like a XBLA title to look out for!

What are the main differences between the Playstation 3 version and Xbox 360 (Live Arcade) version?

We have been playing a lot of the PS3 version since it launched and taking all kinds of feedback from the gamers playing it and have used that information to tweak the entire Gripshift that gamers have already experienced. The largest new feature would have to be the addition of the deathmatch mode for online multiplayer and the twenty new maps that accompany it. Of course the 360 achievements are also a big addition to the game and should provide plenty of fun for anyone whether they are new or seasoned to the Gripshift series.

What plans do the development team have for downloadable content?

We have been supporting the PS3 version with a lot of stuff so we have plenty of plans for the Xbox Live Arcade version including map packs, new levels, challenges, etc.

Is there any plans for the development team to play against gamers over Xbox Live?

We are looking at doing that for sure, at this time there are no specific dates scheduled but keep checking at our website (www.gripshiftgame.com) because this will be happening soon.

What makes Xbox Live Arcade Gripshift the best version ever? Should people who already own the original PS3 Gripshift purchase this version, if so why?

Other than the new mode, additional levels, and achievements the 360 version of Gripshift features better controls, sharper HD graphics (anti-aliasing), and tons of Xbox Live integration (chat, friends list, leaderboards, etc.). When you look at all the new features that we are offering for Xbox 360 owners it is easy to see why even people who already own the PS3/PSP version should go ahead and get it.

What is the HD resolution on the game?

The game will run at 720p with a smooth 30 fps frame-rate.

Can you tell us your favorite achievement in the game, since this was something you could not achieve on the PS3?

There is a really sweet achievement that requires you to stay in the air for a full ten seconds, while this may not seem long it is in Gripshift and there are only a few specific areas in the game that the trick can be performed. Because Gripshift requires so much more strategic thinking than the average racer we had the chance to require gamers to not only try and win the race but really think outside the box in order to unlock some of the more unique achievements.

Tell us a bit about the music, we have heard some really good things about the soundtrack and it's New Zealand influence.

Yes because we are from New Zealand we wanted to try and give some of the local bands (both signed and unsigned) a chance to get publicity and it is really great music which works out for us as well.
