Contrary to the rumors of a big announcement coming from Bill Gates at CES about a HD-DVD enabled standalone Xbox 360, Microsoft have said they have no such plans. In a rare deviation from their usual "no comment on rumors" policy, they told GameSpot the following:
We have reiterated multiple times since launching the Xbox 360 HD-DVD Player that we have no plans to integrate an HD-DVD player in to the Xbox 360.
