    Burnout Paradise Review

    by Ed Ransbottom

No video game is perfect, but truthfully all I can find are relatively minor flaws.  The crash camera is a bit over utilized with what looks to be a minor fender bender or guard rail scrape getting the full devastation treatment.  Controls sometimes feel a little too sensitive, and although the Microsoft Racing Wheel is fully supported, the lack of a Y-axis limits your aim in Showtime.  I also feel that you should have the ability to block the sending of Mugshots to gamers that don’t have a Vision Camera.  Fair is fair.  If I’m adding to your Mugshot collection, you should be adding to mine.  In such an expansive city, the limit of 8 players online feels a little small.  Why not 16?

Burnout Paradise breaks the mold of its previous franchise games, and pulls it off in a big way.  Its rare that a developer can make large scale changes and still put out a winning product.  If you’re a fan of the Burnout series or of arcade racers, Paradise City should be your next gaming destination.
