Lost Planet Reconfirmed as a 360 Exclusiveby Nelson R
After touching off a firestorm of fanboy forum-posts, developer Capcom has clarified their commitment to keeping the game out of the hands of PS3 owners. In a recent interview with 1up.com, producer Jun Takeuchi waffled a bit on the long-expected exclusivity deal, when he used the words "we will try" and "in the future [a PS3 version] is something we might have to do."
Gamespot interviewers quickly asked Capcom to clarify and got the following gut-soothing answer: "Lost Planet is an exclusive Xbox 360 title. Typically when the development team sets out to create a game, we focus development of the title on a single platform and for Lost Planet that platform is the Xbox 360.”
Exclusivity for a game as well-received as LP is not just a fanboy issue. Amazing exclusive games sell consoles, and more consoles sold leads to more amazing games for that console. Anyone who downloaded an early demo of Lost Planet will likely tell you just how mind-numbingly amazing Lost Planet looks to be. I predict a huge hit, and let me know if I'm wrong when the game lands in January, 2007.
Here is the Lost Planet blurb:
Set within the merciless frozen tundra of a hostile planet, humans struggle for survival as conflicts arise between man, the surrounding indigenous creatures and the monstrous beings that have invaded. With a gripping single player campaign and numerous multiplayer modes, Lost Planet promises to deliver an intense cinematic gameplay experience when it is released next winter.
