Sony Delays the PS3 in Europe, Fanboys Jump Shipby Nelson Rodriguez
Bloggers and stock market types respond to Sony's devastating announcement of a four month delay by pledging allegiance to the Xbox 360. Sony cited production problems as the reason for having to push the European launch to March 2007.
Sony previously revised U.S. launch numbers down, indicating that they would have less units than expected for the impending November release. The latest Sony trouble, after moths of near revolts over the $600 price tag, provided the last straw for some Sony fans and industry analysts alike.
Michael Pachter, who covers the video game industry for Wedbush Morgan Securities, guessed that the delay would cause European gamers to consider other consoles, including the Xbox 360. The Angry Gamer website posted a hilarious open letter to Sony declaring disappointment and lost love.
After explaining that he has canceled his European preorder, Angry Gamer wrote "I've found someone else. They're reliable. They're here for me. They have a cool range of cheap games. Even that Assassins Creed game that was apparently just for you. It's an Xbox 360 and we're going to be happy together forever now that I'm finally rid of you."
