Various retail sources have been saying that Microsoft is currently planning to release the external HD-DVD player add-on for £199 (€293) around November.
Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz, the sources also said that the drive will be packaged with two, as yet unannounced, HD-DVD movies. They also said that there will be a new Xbox 360 console bundle available to those who have yet to make the next generation Xbox 360 plunge - they will be able to get both the console and the new HD-DVD drive for a price as low as £375 (€552).
Please note that these pricing rumors have not been confirmed or even commented on by Microsoft themselves, and also relate to the UK/European release of the HD-DVD drive only.
A straight conversion of the above price indications to $USD would see the HD-DVD cost about $370, and the Xbox 360/HD-DVD bundle cost about $700. These are highly unlikely to be the final US prices, and so our American readers should not pay attention to them.
