Fallout 3 "Refused Classification" (Banned) in Australia

    by Eric Bush

The Office of Film and Literature Classification has handed an RC to Bethesda's Fallout 3, making it illegal to sell the game in Australia. It's not known at this stage if the ban was for drug use, as the original rumor states, or gore, etc. According to Bethesda's Pete Hines, the developer has no comment regarding the ban.

What a load of shite. It's ok for terrorists to spout off about their beliefs in public but not for a videogame to be released. Oh I forgot, we might infringe someones human rights. The world has gone mental. What about Grand Theft Auto?

This is absolutely and totally unacceptable. As stated in the latest podcast, Australia OFLC needs to implement a R18 rating for Australia and gaming. A potentially fantastic game is now out of reach for us Aussies. Looks like another UK import in on the cards. Shame on you OFLC!
