Brutal Legend is "Fine" Says Double Fine Productions

    by Eric Bush

Yesterday, the video game community was shocked after learning that Activision has decided to drop several Vivendi Games, including 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand, Brutal Legend, Ghostbusters and World in Conflict: Soviet Assault.

Double Fine Productions has updated its web site with a new entry stating that "Brütal Legend is Fine." This won't be the first time that Double Fine has to look for a new publisher for one of its titles, as Psychonauts was originally to be published by Microsoft for release exclusively on the Xbox console, but in March 2004, Microsoft dropped the game. Double Fine secured a new publishing deal with Majesco, who brought the game to Xbox, PS2 and PC in 2005.

Brütal Legend is a third person action adventure game that tells the story of roadie Eddie Riggs (named for Eddie the Head, the mascot of Iron Maiden, and Derek Riggs, the artist who created him), who has been transported into a Heavy Metal and Nordic fantasy inspired alternate history where demons have enslaved humanity. Jack Black, will voice Eddie Riggs and provide his likeness for the character.
