Kotaku claims to have obtained a mail from Gearbox's Corrinne Yu in which the programmer let her contacts know that she'll be leaving Gearbox to lead the team that "will build the engines and games for future Halo's on Xbox'es and PC's at Microsoft."
This story follows the rumors of Gearbox developing the fourth Halo game, expected to be a launch title for the next Xbox. Earlier this month, a job posting in GamaSutra revealed Microsoft is putting together a team to create future Halo games.
Since the mail leak, Gearbox has confirmed Yu's departure to Shacknews, clarifying that she served as director of platform technology, not technology director.
Yu's husband, id art director Kenneth Scott, is also rumored to have accepted a position at Microsoft. Microsoft has confirmed all of this with Kotaku so apparently all is now official, well except for what exactly they are going to be working on.
