LucasArts has released the official demo of their upcoming action game Fracture on Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network. Fracture advances players to the year 2161, where ecological and seismological disasters have radically altered the planet’s landscape, and a clash in ideologies places society on the threshold of war. In utilizing the core gameplay mechanic of Fracture, a destructive next-generation technology known as Terrain Deformation, players are equipped with an arsenal of futuristic weaponry to strategically reshape their surroundings on the fly. The demo gives players an initial glimpse of the world of Fracture and the technology of Terrain Deformation, a key element in combat and battlefield tactics in the game.
The Mercenaries 2 demo, which was supposed to launch last Friday, has finally arrived to Xbox Live. In the demo, players can play an objective from one of the missions, and while they are limited to a relatively small section of the world, there’s enough there for players to get a feel for the sandbox nature of the game.
