Variety reports that Brash Entertainment ceased operations this past weekend. Ben Fritz wrote:
In a nutshell, the few games it managed to put out sold poorly, it wasted money on some ill conceived ideas, and talented executives fled as they saw how things were going. Since co-founder Thomas Tull left the board, I understand that the investors who had committed $400 million when Brash launched last year had pulled out. So Brash was simply out of cash.
Launched in June 2007, Brash Entertainment focused on theatrical-based video games. The studio announced partnerships with Lionsgate Films, Twentieth Century Fox Licensing and Merchandising, Universal Studios Licensing and Vanguard Animation and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. The company supposedly had more than 40 licenses through partnerships with major film studios and 12 games in production.
