Soulcalibur IV Named 'Best Fighting Game' at 2008 VGAs

by Eric Bush

Santa Clara, CA - December 18, 2008 – Leading video games publisher and developer NAMCO BANDAI Games America Inc. today announced that its highly acclaimed fighting title, Soulcalibur IV® was named Best Fighting Game at Spike TV’s 2008 Video Game Awards (VGA). Voted upon by the VGA Advisory Counsel, comprised of influential experts in the video gaming industry, Soulcalibur IV surpassed the other nominations with its rich gaming experience and robust feature set. A full list of winners can be found at www.vga.spike.com.

“This award is a testament to the unrivalled gameplay experience that the Soulcalibur franchise delivers,” said Andrew Lelchuk executive vice president of sales and marketing at NAMCO BANDAI Games America. “NAMCO BANDAI continues to lead in the fighting genre and this award showcases our commitment to developing genre-defining titles.”

Retooled from the ground up, Soulcalibur IV perfects its highly celebrated weapons-based fighting system with stunning high definition graphics and new gameplay mechanics. Adding to the depth of combat, players can now destroy protective armor; weakening their enemy’s resolve and unleash Critical Finish moves to defeat opponents in one spectacular blow. Also new to the series is the ability to battle online against players from around the world using customized characters or fan favorites to challenges others for global domination.

Soulcalibur IV is rated “T” for Teen by the ESRB and is currently available at retailers throughout North America for a suggested MSRP of $59.99. For more information about Soulcalibur IV, please visit: http://www.namcobandaigames.com or http://www.soulcalibur.com.
