In celebration of the new year, developer Pandemic has released an Xbox 360 demo of its upcoming Tolkien-inspired battleground game, The Lord of the Rings: Conquest. The demo (1.25 GB) let's you try out the online versus mode and more.
Released on PlayStation 3 last week, the 1GB demo allows players to pick a side, hop online and fight in 16-person battles for the future of Middle-earth. At present, only Xbox Live Gold members can download the demo from the Xbox Live Marketplace.

The Hobbit-slaying action game heads to retailers on January 13, and will be available for PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS for a price of $59.99.
