Xbox Live Director of Programming Larry Hryb, known by the pseudonym Major Nelson, has revealed the most played games on Xbox Live in the first week of the year. Surprisingly, Halo 3, which was the most played game of 2008, fell to a second place, with Call of Duty: World at War now taking the top spot. Epic Games' Gears of War 2 is in the third place, with former king of the Xbox Live charts Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare taking the fourth place.
