Capcom VP Responds to "Versus DLC" Price Complaints

    by Eric Bush

Although Capcom had previously responded to the flack it's received for the $5 charge on the Resident Evil 5 "Versus" DLC, a VP for the publisher has had enough with all the complaining and is calling "BS." Christian Svensson, VP of strategic planning and business development, explains on the company forums that people are getting plenty of bang for their $60 and says that if people don't see the value in the secondary offering that, "the choice is simple, don't purchase it."

Svensson goes on to explain that paid DLC at Capcom has its own budget, with its own profit and loss analysis. He emphasizes that without this method, the Versus content wouldn't exist in the first place, because it "did not fit within the production budget of the base product." He continues that to hit the sweet spot of DLC releasing within 3 to 6 weeks of initial launch that development on these products starts before the actual product hits shelves.

As stupid as it is, remember...its society. There's lots of ways they make people pay more for something that isn't worth the extra money, and go figure people still pay for it either way. Its just more reasons why people are just concerned about the economy and should just live with the fact there IS dlc that SHOULD have been with the game at release, but its life. Companies want money. We want DLC. Its reality. Suck it up, just get RE5 cause it IS awesome! The multiplayer DLC is worth the wait. Gives you time to beat the game multiple times either way =P

I actually didn't even buy RE5 because of this reason. There is NO reason for them to charge $$ for something that obviously should have been included in the first place. So, I hope that Capcom is happy: Their choice to not include the VS. mode cost them my game purchase all together.

ok first i have been a resident evil fan since it first came out on ps 1. and for the vp to say if u don,t like it is wrong. it is also wrong for all pepole around the world to cry about the price when the collector,s edition is 95 bucks plus tax. and i really don,t care what pepole think i,m still going to get the add on and im going to play the crap out of it so everyone get over your self. and capcom i hope u make another resident evil 6. plus another devil may cry 5
