The confusion regarding possible multiplayer in Dead Rising 2 has been laid to rest, as Capcom has confirmed that Blue Castle's upcoming sequel has online multiplayer.
"Rest assured we are going to put multiplayer in the game," Capcom development head Keiji Inafune said during a recent press event, as reported by Eurogamer. "I can't go into specifics about what type of multiplayer as that directly relates to some of the game systems that we don't want to talk about at this event. It will be online multiplayer." Inafune added that "single-player alone is not going to cut it," noting "we're at a point in game history that you need to have some form of multiplayer component in a game."
Coming to PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Dead Rising 2 is currently without an exact release date, though it's due by the time Capcom's fiscal year ends on March 31, 2010.
