When Alex consumes an enemy, as well as gaining their memories, he also can gain their appearance. This can be used for accessing Military controlled areas and stirring up trouble among the military ranks (You can claim another soldier is you and the surrounding soldiers will open fire on the poor guy). Due to the open world environment you will need some way of getting from a to b. And Radical don't disappoint. Alex is able to run on nearly everything and has the ability to jump extremely high. This gives him access to the New York City rooftops, which he is able to free-run with ease. He automatically dodges objects, so all you have to do is point him in a direction and he does all the work. This is because the developers wanted to concentrate on the combat.
In anticipation for the games release there is 6-issue WildStorm comic series by Acclaimed writers Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray, and Darick Robertson creates the artwork. Radical Entertainment, who is owned by Activision Blizzard, is developing prototype. They are responsible for a list of, in my opinion, forgettable titles, including The Simpsons Hit & Run, Crash Of The Titans, Hulk and Independence Day. That said, they've been about for nearly 20 years, so they have plenty of experience in development. In comparison to the games they have developed the past, Prototype is definitely breaking their mould. To do this, Radical has developed its own in-house engine specifically for Prototype - Titanium engine.
This could pose problems due to this release being the engines debut. Have they ironed out all the bugs and if so what could go wrong, that they haven't prepared for? It’s a cross platform release, so what problems will that bring to light? Prototype will be out in early June and will have an M rating, due to the amount of gore (and there seems to be a lot). The screenshots look good and the theatrical trailers are stimulating a lot of excitement, but bad early reports on gameplay slow-ness still clouds the games release. Also, the fact that Alex is superhuman and basically unstoppable makes me think the game might not be challenging enough. They have the ingredients for a spectacular game. Lets see what happens. Stay tuned right here at PlanetXbox360.com for a full hands-on report with Prototype later this month.
