It seems we were not the only ones hoping to see price cut announcements from the console makers at this year's E3. In an interview with Bloomberg, the CEO of Activision criticized console makers for resisting price cuts during the recession.
"I was disappointed not to see any sort of aggressive price cutting," Bobby Kotick said. "Of all the things that the hardware companies need to be doing right now, it’s recognizing the difficulties of the economy and pricing their hardware appropriately."
Bloomberg highlights Kotick is not the first CEO to express disappointment for the lack of price cuts from the console makers. The publication reports the comments made by the CEO of GameStop:
"The hardware price points, where they are right now given this economic environment, are too high," GameStop Chief Executive Officer Daniel DeMatteo said on conference call. "If the platform holders are going to make the numbers that they’ve forecasted for the year, those numbers will have to change."
