Now Software, who created classics like Armoured Core, are now creating a Mass Multiplayer Robot Shooter completely exclusive for all you Xbox 360 gamers, its called Chrome Hounds. When you look at screenshots of Chrome Hounds you can straight away see the resemblance with the Mechassault series, but in comparison Chrome Hounds looks set to be about 2827 times greater than the Mechassault games, for example it looks a lot more realistic where as Mechassault seemed more like a cartoon than a game.
The plot is set a few years in the future, where an arms race has got out of control and now huge robots battle it out on scarred battlefields for global supremacy and more importantly bragging rights. One of the robots is of course controlled by you the player, and your job is simple, fly off to a huge battlefield as part of an unstoppable robotic team and destroy anything that moves, including the buildings.
As you can probably tell the game focuses heavily on team work, in single player you’ll have to fight against smart AI controlled bots and online you will face up to 12 online opponents. One aspect which looks amazing is the graphics, its astonishing how well put together these bots are, the gun barrels, wheels, tracks you name it the whole thing looks amazingly realistic, and not only the bots, maps and buildings are perfect and to add you will be able to fight by the side of historic land marks all around the world and claim them as your own.
Another added bonus Is customisation, much like NFS or Forza you can customise your bot, from decals to new legs and chassis, and of course not forgetting your arsenal. But with the weapons comes real world physics, for example say you buy a triple bazooka and stick it on your right arm then you’re going to have to counterbalance something on your left arm otherwise you’ll end walking around in circles. To pay for all this you have to win, and to get bigger guns you have to win bigger matches. Whether it be completing missions or destroying landmarks there always a way to make a quick buck or two.
Now Software has already proven that they can make Robot shooters, but with customisation and mass multiplayer, this really could knock its competitors for six.
