Having seen the end of E3 2009 last week – and we must say, the return to former glory was a resounding success – we thought it would be good to take a look at several titles that were missing from the show. From Rockstar Games not showing any of their titles to Microsoft keeping Rare off the charts, there were plenty of games that failed to make a presence at E3 2009. Taking a deeper look, here are the missing games:
Max Payne 3 - Without its creator, Sam Lake who’s now working on Alan Wake, many fanatics are curious to see how the next installment of Max Payne turns out. Skipping out on E3 2009, Rockstar Games is slowly revealing more details on the third-person shooter that has its star character no longer as a NYPD police officer and on the streets of Brazil working as bodyguard of sorts. Utilizing the same game engine that was behind the brilliance of Grand Theft Auto IV, the gaming world is itching to see more of what Rockstar Games has in store for Max Payne in South America.

Rareware Games - Perhaps the largest component that was missing from E3 2009 was Microsoft’s decision to have Rare skip the show entirely. With no Killer Instinct, Perfect Dark, Conker, Battletoads, or any Rare game to speak of, Microsoft sure did leave the fans scratching their head. When will Rare show up again? When they do make their next appearance, what will they be showing? The only word that has been leaked is that Rare is tinkering around with the Project Natal motion-detecting software, so if that’s a clue, we may see a few titles release holiday 2010 showcasing the strength of the Natal technology.
