Double Fine Productions, the developer of Brütal Legend, has filed a counter-suit against Activision claiming the mega-publisher is trying to destroy Brütal Legend to protect the Guitar Hero franchise.
According to the Associated Press, Double Fine alleges in the lawsuit that Activision's "purpose is not only to cancel 'Brutal Legend,' but to kill it completely so that 'Guitar Hero' would not have to face the competition," the lawsuit claims.
Although Brutal Legend was one of the games dropped in the merger between Activision and Vivendi Games. Several months later, Double Fine closed a publishing deal with Electronic Arts. But then Activision came back claiming it had negotiations with Double Fine, but an agreement was never reached. Now, the world's largest video game publisher claims it would be seriously harmed if EA were allowed to publish Brütal Legend.
