GameInformer magazine are reporting that a Halo 3 demo might be coming for the Xbox 360 in the first half of 2007. Read on for the details of this rumor.
Wisely, GameInformer themselves have titled
this story as a rumor, but apparently one of their sources has said that a Halo 3 demo could be coming to the Xbox 360 in the first half of 2007... sadly however they couldn't be any more specific. They also state (their source didn't say this), that the demo could be announced in the second or third week of November this year, right around the time that the PS3 and Nintendo Wii will be launched.
"We’re titling this as a rumor, but even so, sources have revealed to Game Informer Online that there will be a Halo 3 demo released over Xbox Live in the first half of 2007. Obviously Microsoft hasn’t revealed any details yet, but we wouldn’t be too surprised if something was dropped in the second or third week of November. You know, just to mess a bit with the PlayStation 3 and Wii launches. We contacted Microsoft to confirm this rumor, but they responded with the usual statement that Microsoft doesn’t comment about speculation or rumors. Is it shocking that Microsoft would release a Halo 3 demo? Not so much. Is it surprising that they’d announce the first details to mess with Sony and Nintendo? Not at all."So... what do we think of this? Not much. A Halo 3 demo is very likely, and saying that it could drop anytime between January and June 2007 isn't exactly mindblowing, especially when the game is currently predicted to launch in Fall that same year. In terms of a possible mid-November demo announcement, sure Halo 3 will be a massive title, but announcing a demo to take the shine off of the PS3 launch?
We'll have more on this if and when it develops.
