Military Madness: Nectaris Bombs XBLA on September 30th

    by Eric Bush

San Francisco, CA - September 1, 2009 - Get ready for battle with a brand new version of the classic turn-based title Military Madness: Nectaris, published by Hudson Entertainment, the North and South American publishing arm of HUDSON SOFT. Available for download on September 30th on Xbox LIVE® Arcade for 800 Microsoft Points, Military Madness: Nectaris will feature the same strategic gameplay that players have come to expect from the original TurboGrafx-16 title, along with 3D graphics, four player online team / vs. multiplayer, an all-new customizable commander unit, detailed stat-tracking leaderboards, and more.

“Military Madness has been running covert ops for years, but now it is back for gamers everywhere to enjoy,” said Sabine Duvall, Vice President of Digital Download at Hudson Entertainment. “We think a new generation of console players will enjoy the battle-hardened strategy in this game.”

Armchair generals will revel in the online multiplayer aspect of the game. Up to four of them can compete in vs. or team battles ranging anywhere from 2v2 to 1v1v1v1. Multiplayer maps are specifically designed to be balanced for 2, 3, or 4 players. The most strategic element of multiplayer is the addition of the multiplayer-specific Commander unit. Players can customize this unit before a battle by spending points to select abilities that improve the Commander itself, improve friendly units, or even ones that disrupt enemy units.

Within a year of its original release on the TurboGrafx-16 in 1989, Military Madness won awards for “Best Military Strategy Game” and “Best War Game.” The game features two opposing forces with near-future military equipment battling it out on the Moon. Each level is a distinct map with a hex grid, on which players take turns moving their units in an effort to win by destroying all enemy units or taking over the enemy headquarters. Like the original game, Military Madness: Nectaris players strategize by the placement and movement of units, make use of terrain advantages and predicting enemy movements to outsmart the enemy. Military Madness has been rated E10+ by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB). For more information on this title and more, please visit Hudson Entertainment at www.MilitaryMadnessGame.com.
