Real time events trigger you to jump at opportune moments in order to avoid the looming car crashes you must avoid. Balancing out the third-person action with real timed events here give these scenes a creative feel and adds to the preposterousness of the B movie genre WET is chasing after. Did I mention Rubi’s temper? Yup, she could give Tyson a run for his money on the anger front. Rubi literally “sees red” in different parts of the campaign, usually brought on by an enemy’s blood splattering across her face, and when she “sees red,” so do we. Artistic style prospers as the entire game is turned into a brilliant red with black and white outlines of enemy characters. Rubi’s on a rampage, ripping through enemies bit by bit and tallying up the chain kill count to double digits. These scenes are a distinct highlight and offer up a great new dynamic in the games progression.

Although WET doesn’t have online multiplayer, it’s still going to be in your console after the campaign is completed. Completing the campaign opens up two more modes: Challenge and Points Count Modes. Challenge Mode places you at Rubi’s home, The Boneyard; an abandoned airplane hangar/gas station landfill blemish, in Texas. Throughout the campaign, this is where you’ll train with new weapons Rubi accumulates. Trial runs are made through rings set up before you with a timer. As you race on foot, targets will pop up and slow motion acrobatics will help you hit them, giving you the needed extra few seconds to complete the run. This is also the way the Challenge Mode plays out, but the times are much tougher to beat, and will award you with either a bronze, silver, or gold medal, depending on your time. Points Count lets you replay any chapter you like, while trying to beat the target score given to you at the beginning load screen. Achievement hunters will have a blast with these.

New and harder play-through options also become available upon the campaigns completion, including one of my favorite, Golden Bullets. Playing in Golden Bullets puts enemies down with just one bullet, but Rubi’s health is diminished much quicker, forcing you to play in acrobatic cover as much as possible, directly strengthening your skills and combinations. WET offers up an over the top tribute to the classic B movie genre, putting you at the front of every speeding car, airplane, or cigar puffing enemy; making an entertaining ride to soar into. Although the controls could use some tightening, the overall experience screams with pure and pleasurable-rage-induced-bloody-action.
