It would seem that a lot of Xbox 360 gamers on the East Coast, eager to pick up their copy of Gears of War, could be out of luck if they preordered from EB Games/Gamestop.
Reports are popping up on internet forums all over regarding the fiasco, including in
our own forums, as well as the ones over at
Epic Games.
It seems that multiple automated messages have been sent to those who preordered the game saying that they can come pick it up on a later and later date. This post from DeepSixx in the Epic forums should explain all:
First EBgames/Gamestop said midnight Tuesday launch party, then it was 10:30 am Wednesday shipment, then 5pm Wednesday shipment (automated corporate voicemail sent to pre-order customers).And now...they send out a corporate automated message to numerous pre-orders on the East Coast stating "sometime Thursday".Called Ebgames...statement was "Fedex didn't ship 70% of GOW from Memphis".Called 3-4 other local big name stores, and they said Nov 9th. Looks to me that there is absolutely NO reason to buy from EBgames. Cancelling pre-order...done with those jokers...Our sincere condolences to anyone who was a victim of the above issue, or indeed anyone who has failed to get a copy of the game. By the way we are deep in the midst of compiling our review so stay tuned!
