Confirmed: Modern Warfare 2 to Feature Third-Person Mode
by Eric Bush
Modern Warfare is one of the best first-person-shooters in recent memory. What if the sequel was not only a first-person shooter. What if it was also a third-person-shooter? Someone managed to get an early copy of Modern Warfare 2 in France and streamed a LIVE feed playing it onto the internet. If it's real, the game appears to feature some strange third-person camera vide. This could be the super secret FourZeroTwo was talking about a couple weeks ago. If the video is not real, then it won't; we will know soon enough (November 10, 2009 release date).
Check out the crummy quality clip below and judge for yourself. We are contacting the developer and will update if we get a comment on this issue. Stay tuned for more details on Modern Warfare 2 right here at PlanetXbox360.com.
UPDATE: "It's not something you can toggle on and off in ANY game," said IW community manager Robert Bowling. The special mode can only be played in private matches -- toggled on or off just like "Hardcore" settings -- or in playlists that are designated for third-person play. According to Bowling, everyone playing in a third-person playlist will be restricted to the viewpoint. "This is just another cool way to play the game," he said, "you obviously will still have the option to play gametypes normal as well."
