Happy holidays everyone! Err…wait a minute. While it does feel like the holidays – thanks no less to Activison’s gift wrapping of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on November 10 – we still have a few weeks to go until Thanksgiving shows up and Black Friday follows. November is going to be a splendid month for gaming for those who are waiting for the holidays to come sooner rather than later. November should literally be called “Squember” since four out of our top five titles turn out to be sequels of highly anticipated franchises. Or better yet, we might just want to call it “The month that Modern Warfare 2 finally releases” as it’s bound to be the top-selling title of 2009 after the storm of the holidays finally passes.
Our Five Most Anticipated Titles of November: (In order of release)
5. Dragon Age: Origins - Publisher: Electronic Arts – Developer: Bioware - Release Date: November 3 - The spiritual successor to the award-winning Baldur’s Gate II, Dragon Age: Origins is finally ready for release after five or more years of development and programming. Leading a team of more than nine playable characters, Dragon Age: Origins is shoe-in for “RPG of the Year” and could sneak right up on the heavily-favored Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 to win “Game of the Year” all around the net. With the attention spent on details, dialogue, storyline and action, Bioware has put together an intelligent and mature RPG for the PC and consoles.
4. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - Publisher: Activision – Developer: Infinity Ward - Release Date: November 10 - The big daddy of 2009, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has sent a good handful of video games in 2010 in hiding. Publishers are avoiding Activision’s spectacular sequel to one of 2007’s better titles and it’s for good reason. Pre-orders are at an all-time high, analysts are expecting over 10 million copies sold before too long, and gamers are clearing room on their schedule to skip work, church, class and their entire night lives to spend it on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Only a few short weeks and gamers will have their gritty hands on 2009’s most anticipated title and shooter.
3. Dragon Ball: Raging Blast - Publisher: Namco Bandai – Developer: Spike - Release Date: November 10 - As the fourth iteration in the Dragon Ball: Budokai Tenkaichi series, Dragon Ball: Raging Blast should find a safe home with gamers this holiday due to the acclaim the series has received over the years. As a fighter, Raging Blast will feature more than 40 characters – 70 if you count transformations – to battle against friends and family. The storyline mode has received extra meat and potatoes to keep gamers coming back for more. If gamers are sitting on the fence, they should jump on Xbox Live and download the demo to see if Dragon Ball: Raging Blast fits in their holiday plans for 2009.
