Capcom has announced that Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition will be released in downloadable content form for PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE marketplace next spring.
The company held a fan poll early last month prompting users to pick whether they’d like to see the game released as either DLC or physical disc, with the former coming out on top with 1500 votes.
Chief among Alternative Edition’s major attractions is a new co-op mini-game staring BSAA buddies Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine, as they attempt to infiltrate the Spencer Mansion prior to the events of the main game.
Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition is due out in spring 2010.
