6. Multiplayer Gaming: Face it, how many of you will be on Xbox Live come Thanksgiving weekend? I know I'll be for at least a little bit. After all, I'm not allowed in the kitchen anymore after I tried to stuff the turkey into a larger turkey one year. I'm not kidding; it was something like this. Anyway, so while I'm waiting for my more trusted loved ones to be cooking said Thanksgiving dinner, I'll be left to my own devices and in that meantime, I'll be trying to find games of Modern Warfare 2, Borderlands or Left 4 Dead 2 to jump into along with other people who are equally untrusted in the art of cooking. But really, what would Xbox Live be today if not for the multiplayer? On top of that, I want you to imagine what life was like before Live. Go ahead, do it for a second, I'll wait. Waiting for your friends to come over, sitting huddled around a TV while you wait in terror for the ever present threat of your mom trying to bring kool-aid and rice krispy treats. Yes, I know it's scary, but if anything some of the people on Xbox Live are equally terrifying nowadays. However, I feel it prudent to point out and be thankful at least in the direction of the Xbox Live team on this one, for policing our games and keeping those who feel 'The Way of the Asshat' is the one true way find themselves wondering why they got banned. Simply said, I love multiplayer and I sincerely like to think that innovation is essentially something that makes us wonder how we got along before it was created. So I ask this, how did we as console gamers get along before Xbox Live and the multiplayer experience it offers?

5. Microsoft's Console Warranty: I hope this doesn't sound like a cheap shot, but let's face it, the best thing Microsoft ever did was acknowledge the issue of the Red Ring of Death. Bear in mind, this was after vehemently denying there was a problem, but they made good and now have the Chuck Norris of video game console warranties. I think we can all agree that this is something to have been and remain thankful for.
