UK Gamers Rocket Gears of War to Number 1

Whether you believe Gears of War is the best game on earth, or not, gamers in the UK have bought into it so heavily they have catapulted Epic's shooter to the number one spot on the UK game charts.

The charts reflect games for all consoles, though it should be noted that the PS3 has not yet landed in Europe.  Gears of War has now also become the fastest-selling title of all time for the Xbox 360.  I am curious to see how the charts look in late 2007, when the PS3 is in enough supply to make a difference.

The press release announcing the success of Gears of War in the UK included a nice explanatory paragraph that I had to include here.  It reminds me that I, too, knew nothing about Gears once.  For those of you who stubmled onto the site by accident or are visiting earth from another galaxy, here it is:
