So, it’s that time of year when Santa comes and brings gamers all the things we want. From gift cards to underwear and controllers to consoles, but there is so much out there that the average gamer can’t possibly just walk into a store and buy. There are circumstances where say, a game isn’t out yet, which inspires us as gamers to hound the developers or risk sneaking into the studio for a sneak peek. But, in all fairness, I’ve decided to play this from the angle of what exactly I think all gamers would want for Christmas, I think it the most appropriate because even with mounds of snow, icy roads and nightmarish cold, we all just want to game.
10. Modern Warfare 2 / Resident Evil Limited Edition Consoles - Maybe it’s just me, maybe it’s not, I don’t really know, however I love the limited edition consoles that stick out from the standard black or white Xbox 360 consoles. Back when I first saw the Halo console, with the olive green case and the UNSC marking on it, I knew I had to buy it. Sure enough, a few days later, I had one in my possession and never looked back. To this day, I still have the console despite it being out of warranty and have never had to go through the pain of a RROD. However, seeing the blood red and slick black cases of the Resident Evil and Modern Warfare 360s easily reminds me that it can’t possibly hurt to keep a spare system or two around the house. After all, even if they just function as nothing more than sexy DVD players, that’s really a sexy I can deal with. Throw in the game as well as unique controllers and at that point, I’m sold faster than cookies and milk to Santa Claus himself.

9. VGA / HDMI cables - Okay, well, if I can’t put a giant television or a monitor on this list, I suppose these are the next best thing. Without the ability to play our games on something that makes those high-end graphics really stick out, the PC gamers might actually still have something to lord over console gamers (mouse and keyboard doesn’t count since most consoles accept them now via usb). Point being, given the choice of playing on a television using composite or s-video cables or sitting in front of a plasma TV or LCD monitor using VGA or HDMI, trust me, I’ll take the sexier of the two. Well, without these cables, seeing those beautiful, glorious graphics is nothing but the dream of a madman. So, if you feel so inclined, I say ask for these cables and hook a console up to a nice flat screen television or monitor and remember what it’s like to actually see graphics that have the potential to make your head explode.
