As 2009 came to a close we saw a lot of sales figures, on what sold here and what sold there in terms of video games. Today Amazon.com posted it's top 100 sellers of the year and only 5 Microsoft-based products cracked the top quarter. Most of the top 25 was dominated by one somewhat small company out of Japan, which goes by the name Nintendo. Modern Warfare 2 from Activision was the highest selling game on the Xbox 360, coming in at number 9 overall for the year. Sony's top game was also Modern Warfare 2 for the Playstation 3 - in at number 13 (the only other PS3 title in the top 25 was Uncharted 2).
A couple other games playable on Microsoft's gaming console did well, including Assassin's Creed II, Halo 3: ODST, and Left 4 Dead 2. Lastly the 12 month Xbox LIVE membership card came in at number 23. Overall there were twenty Xbox 360 related products that were listed in Amazon.com's top 100 video games of 2009, in terms of sales. It's hard to truly judge what these numbers exactly mean as the mega-retail website is not a exact replica of the entire country (FIFA 10 wasn't even on the list) and how people shop worldwide but it's still interesting to look at nonetheless.
