During a sit-down with Joystiq at CES 2010 in Las Vegas last week, Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg has revealed that “millions” of gamers will have Project Natal in their homes by the end of this year. “We think that there will be millions of Natals in consumer’s homes this holiday,” he said. Greenberg also confirmed that if you own a Xbox 360 without a hard-drive, the camera will still work for you. “As far as I’m aware, there is no requirement for a hard drive,” he added. The motion-sensing system got a rough release date of holiday 2010 at the massive Consumer Electronics Show, with a new development video of the camera also released (it's embedded below).
Microsoft's Greenberg also said at an interview with Kotaku: “When you think about games and new experiences that will appeal to people that maybe have never played games before, I think you do get into a new category with the types of experiences we think about.“I don’t think that puts us in a Wii category, because we’re still a high-definition console, we still have the online community—Live will be very much integrated into these experiences—so I think there’s a lot more richness that we’re able to bring to life with it. I think the type of games will be different.”
