Capcom’s revealed that the DLC included with its Gold Edition of Resident Evil 5 was originally to be included with the game when it was released last March. Producer Yasuhiro Anpo confirmed on his blog that both Lost in Nightmares and Desperate Escape could have appeared as an in-game extra. The reason for the omission was due to the production budget. According to Anpo, during RE5's development, the staff felt that they would have to include some bonus content in the game in order to keep up with the series' long tradition of offering players such content.
In fact, instead of using live scenes with the game, Capcom considered using comic style cut-scenes, but in the end decided against it as it just wasn't the style they were going for. Instead, real CG cinematics are being used for both pieces of upcoming DLC. The Gold Edition of Resident Evil 5, which includes everything new and old, releases on March 9, 2010 for the Xbox 360 and will come as stand-alone DLC to Xbox LIVE later in the year.
