Much like everyone else, gamers need to eat. Some of us enjoy quick meals eaten sparsely between online matches and others just enjoy a handful of various snacks without ever having to put the controller down. Whatever your poison is, at the end of the day, there is no avoiding the undeniable fact that you need sustenance if you wish to continue gaming - and that handful of snack better taste damn good. After all, no gamer can survive on video games and sweaty t-shirts alone (hinting at lots of food here). Below are the top 10 things to eat while gaming; did we miss your favorites?

10. Carbonated Water / Propel: I know this one sounds obvious and it should be, but if you get dehydrated while playing a game, you’re going to fall asleep and then lose time playing or even worse get yelled at for remaining stationary during a multiplayer game of Modern Warfare 2. While I advocate being healthy in the New Year, I’ll remind all you gamers that there are plenty of different types of water you can drink. Carbonated flavored water is, at least for me, an essential. Admittedly, I’m a sucker for flavored water because it has the carbonation like soda without the massive amounts of heavy sugar that can leave me feeling twitchy and prone to missing that important game winning headshot. On the flipside, Propel comes loaded with vitamins, but is a bit expensive as opposed to carbonated water, which can be bought virtually by the barrel-load on the cheap. If you don’t enjoy the flavored water, there is always the tap. Just remember that even though it can be inconvenient to have to get up to pee, it’s better than sitting around and bitching about being thirsty.

9. Doritos: Forever the bane of my existence, no matter how much I work out, there will always be a craving for Doritos in the back of my mind. Doesn’t matter if it’s the classic nacho cheese or the damn awesome ranch flavored. Doritos are a freakin’ staple if you’re going to be up most of the night playing video games. The best part though is that they can go with virtually anything. Sour cream or salsa, if you can dip a chip in it, odds are it’ll be delicious. Personally, I find these significantly favorable over Funions for the single reason that Doritos don’t cut my mouth up like a razor-wielding maniac. So, when Mass Effect 2 comes out, as bad as they are for me, I’ll definitely have a bag or two in tow while I kick ass and take names.
8. Hot Pockets / Pizza: Hot Pockets are like the goddamn Swiss Army Knife of the culinary world. Why? Because they can be cooked in under 3 minutes and I’m yet to find something that’s been put into ‘pocket form’ that I didn’t find efficiently edible and sufficiently delicious. Hot Pockets are really the food that has something for everyone. While not being the healthiest food in the world, sometimes, you really don’t care. If it boils down to Ramen, Hot Pockets and owning a copy of Final Fantasy XIII, then so be it. I don’t have to starve as long as I have a freezer full of Hot Pockets and during my college days, that tenet came into play more than once.
