Everyone likes to game on their system of choice. It’s the unspoken right that every gamer has been privy to since the first console hit the market and was subsequently followed by its competitor. This kicked off what was known as the console wars and ever since, there have been new veterans joining the ranks every single day. While console exclusives are all well and good being, for the most part, system sellers. It is usually the cross platform titles that stand out the most as people will usually choose a system over another based on simple preferences. Sometimes it’s controller comfort, the access to multiplayer content and people to play it with or whether you like the words ‘Trophy’ or ‘Achievement’ better when recording how far you’ve gotten in a game. But sometimes technicalities like whether or not a game will actually run better on one system or another enters the equation and more often than not, whoever gets the better support first wins.

The original Modern Warfare is perhaps one of the best initial examples of a cross platform title not necessarily being equal across the three current generation consoles. While it has sold immeasurably well, even with the release of it’s sequel, on both the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, there was always something drastically left out. The Wii. Yes, for the longest time, Nintendo owners were cast to the wind and forced to listen for hours on end while other console owners would discuss how much fun they were having. It was a long and arduous time until Modern Warfare 2 released. Not because MW2 actually came out for the Wii, but because the console got Modern Warfare: Reflex. Well, it’s kind of like Modern Warfare 2, except its Modern Warfare. While it may seem like a joke of incredibly poor taste, Wii owners received a game that 360 and PS3 owners had been enjoying years prior. This may not seem like a big deal to the average Wii owner. However, it illustrates how much of an afterthought the system has become in the gaming industry as it isn’t grouped with what have become the ‘core’ or ‘hardcore’ gaming platforms. This has been a going trend and while Reflex wasn’t necessarily terrible, it just seems like it was probably a day late and a dollar short for many gamers who just own the Wii.
