Bungie has finally broached the topic that the mega-studio may one day revisit the Halo series, stating that Reach being considered its swan song (or final Halo title) is a bit “premature." We can hear the scream nows, all Halo fans want Bungie to stay on for another game after Reach and this juicy tidbit only fuels the fire that they will. We can't even begin to guess how much money is flying around up there in Redmond, WA but we can say that it's enough to have Bungie "consider" staying on for the next Halo game (something they vehemently denied just last year).
Speaking with CVG in an interview, Bungie community boss Brian Jarrard admitted that the firm may one day revisit the series once Halo: Reach is released. “You know, it might be premature to say we’ll never ever, ever make a Halo game again,” said Jarrard. “We sort of have a little special place for Halo in our hearts. But for the foreseeable future, [Reach] is it.“ "If we don’t ever come back to Halo again, we better damn well make sure that our last game is the best one ever. Let’s set that bar really high and at least leave our fans something really special.”
When Bungie went independent in 2007, Microsoft retained the rights to the Halo franchise, which left the door open for MS to choose whatever developer it wanted to continue with the series – choosing Ensemble to do Halo Wars. However, Bungie is insistent that one never say never when it comes to it creating another game in the series, despite Reach being its last hurrah for Xbox 360 – at least as far as Bungie is concerned. Halo: Reach goes into Beta on May 3, 2010 and you need a copy of Halo 3: ODST to get into it.
