Heroes these days seem to have largely disregarded the notion of sidekicks. It might be the endless taunting that Robin received, or the eternal coolness of uttering that classic “I work alone” line before strolling off into the graceful shadow of the night. That being said, there are still plenty of team players and second fiddles who are deserving of their own game. Villains are all too often neglected as well; they have their own tales to tell and in an age when we love dark heroes and questionable moral character in our protagonists, why not see things from the other side of the line of justice? Check out our list of top 10 choices for characters that deserve their very own video game.
10) Tails: He might not have Sonic’s blazing speed or Knuckles’ ferocity, but this plucky little compatriot deserves his own time in the spotlight. Since his azure buddy is getting a revival, why not him? It’d delight some of the retro gamers out there since at one time he was a playable character. I admit that I had more fun helping a friend out by playing the flying fox than stepping into the shiny red sneakers of the hero of the tale.

9) Gambit: I'm the first to admit that I love healing factors and an indestructible skeleton as much as the next guy, but Wolverine is just one of the many cool characters in the Marvel universe. If you want to talk dark past, cool style and hopeless romances, look no further than Gambit. An ex thief with the ability to charge objects with kinetic energy and make them explode (most often playing cards) and enough martial arts prowess to hold his own against super powered villains, he’s just begging for more attention than he got in the Wolverine origin film.
8) Yoshi: If there’s one thing worse than being a sidekick and being proverbially ridden every day by the hero/villain/comic relief character, it’s being ridden in the literal sense. He might be able to drive these days, but from the start, Yoshi was simply a steed for Mario to caper around on. Sure, Yoshi’s Island on the Snes saw some dinosaurs of the same species in an adventure of their own, but their entire focus was to save someone who in the future would ride them around and let them fall off cliffs willy nilly. Presumably with age and whatnot, they wouldn’t be the same Yoshi that Mario was riding and accompanies him in Mario Party games. Give that Yoshi his own chance to do something without his cruel Italian master on his back
