is anyone else finding this blueray crap retarded and pointless? Whos idiotic enough to go out and pay twice as much as something you already have per disc and for WHAT! a little extra detail? some bogus bonus content? Stick with dvd its good enough. Waist of money. |

So far bluray has sold more players but that is purely because the ps3 has one built in, however hd dvd claims a much higher movie attach rate, on average 28 films per player! Basically more people are buying hd-dvd films out of choice than bluray becuase its a choice and not because it's being forced on them |

well, if there are.. 25k standalone bluerays, double that for the ps3 users that have hdtv(guessing), makes it 50k. 100k hddvd upgrades not counting whatever standalones there are, and it looks like hddvd is way ahead... who knows these things though.. find real sources!! |

remix: You really think most people who bought a PS3 DON'T have HDTV? I don't know about that man...I know most people still don't own HDTVs, but those who do are exactly the type that would plop down $700 for a game system. |

I've seen conflicting figures, some saying that about 25,000 standalone Blu-Ray drives have sold. With LG's hybrid player, it may not all matter much. |

as new movies really start pouring in for the formats, we will see who's who. the question on my mind is, how many STAND ALONE HDDVD players and Blueray players have been sold? Most people who have a ps3 dont have a HDTV, so they wont be buying movies for it, so i dont really think its a factor right now. What are the purchase trends of the movies and stand alone players? any figures? |
